„Viktorie Valocká’s work revolves around several tangible yet unfinished figures that persistently return, soak into absorbent fabrics, and mischievously observe the viewer from within. To classify these works solely as painting would be an oversimplification, as painting is just one element of her hybrid „two-dimensional assemblages“ and mixed techniques. Alongside the dominant painting, an equally striking drawing emerges—one that often does not serve as a reliable skeleton for an external shape but rather mediates the material fabric of the textile base. However, this holds only until carefully crosshatched, aggressively thrown, or furiously sweeping lines, painted objects, and blurred stains collide with the artist’s leitmotif: the graffiti tag, which inscribes authorship onto the fabrics with significantly greater authority than a mere name could.“

„Práce Viktorie Valocké krouží kolem několika hmatatelných, ale nezavršených figur, které se s urputností vracejí, vpíjejí se do savých tkanin a z nich potutelně sledují diváka. Uzavírat tyto práce do škatulky malby by bylo zjednodušující už proto, že ta je jen jedním z postupů jejích hybridních „dvourozměrných asambláží“ a kombinovaných technik. Vedle dominantní malby tu totiž vystupuje o nic méně výrazná kresba, která většinou netvoří spolehlivý skeleton vnějšího tvaru, ale spíše prostředkuje materiální tkáň textilního podkladu. To ovšem jen do chvíle, kdy se jednou pečlivě šrafované a jindy agresivně vržené či furioso rozmáchlé linie, namalované objekty a rozmývané skvrny ocitnou ve srážce s autorčiným leitmotivem: graffiti tagem, který tkaninám vpisuje autorství s podstatně větší autoritou, než by učinilo vlastní jméno.“

BIOGRAPHY

Viktorie Langer was born in 1988. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2009–2015). She lives and works in Prague.

Finalist for the Oskar Čepan Prize (2021) and Jindřich Chalupecký Prize (2017).

Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions including stone projects, Prague (2025), Zahorian and van Espen, Bratislava, SK (2020, 2021, 2022), OGL Liberec, CZ (2018), National Gallery in Prague, CZ (2016).
