FOAF Prague

“Friend of a Friend” is a gallery–share initiative launched in 2018 with editions in Warsaw, Berlin. Prague 2019 edition, co-organised by Stereo and Wschód, will involve eleven galleries based in Prague, who will share their exhibition spaces with fourteen international gallery guests. One of the aims of the project is to create a different model for the presentation of contemporary art, to establish new networks within the Czech art scene and to enable local audiences to interact with the works of international artists, whose works were often not exhibited in Czech so far.

Stone projects is pleased to host Wschód Gallery (Warsaw) for this collaborative event.

Wschód presents Karolina Bielawska (b. 1986, lives and works in Warsaw), who works with painting, which combines with objects and installations. She often refers to house spaces as well as urban aesthetics and architecture. She mixes various painting techniques and materials, such as plaster boards, enamels, and varnishes. Graduate of the Faculty of Media Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 2015 she was awarded an MA in The Painting’s Space Studio of Leon Tarasewicz and Paweł Susid. Participant of the first edition of Biennale de La Biche (2017) – the smallest contemporary art biennale in the world. Recipient of The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship (2017).
